Commissioner Kirkpatrick expressed concerns regarding the distribution of the funds amongst the Commissioner’s districts, the procedure process to access the funding, discussed redevelopment customized for each district, and the procedure for selecting redevelopment projects. Commissioner Jones discussed the application process for selecting redevelopment projects; and the University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV) Center for Business and Economic Research (CBER) regarding the economic benefits of Complete Streets. Staff was directed to bring an item to the October 5, 2021 meeting regarding the economic benefits of Complete Streets. Commissioner McCurdy discussed equity in the allocation of resources for the Commissioners to work directly with business owners. Discussion followed regarding topics including funding flexibility, policy decisions, the allocation of the funds, and the next steps for the application process. Staff was directed to develop program options, and an application process, to be brought back at the October 5, 2021 meeting.
