Nevada Task Force 1 Deployment Grant |
Additional Comments: |
The Nevada Task Force 1 (NVTF-1) is funded entirely by FEMA. |
BACKGROUND:
The Clark County Fire Department is currently the sponsoring agency of Nevada Task Force 1 (NVTF-1), which is one of twenty-eight (28) Urban Search and Rescue Task Forces nationwide funded by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA). These specialized task forces are considered a "multi-hazard" discipline, as they may be needed for a variety of emergency or disasters, such as earthquakes, hurricanes, typhoons, storms, and other natural disasters.
FEMA activated NVTF-1 to be deployed for the following events:
On August 20, 2021, FEMA requested support for Hurricane Henri which was forecast to impact the New England Coastal states. One (1) NVTF-1 member for IST Support was deployed. The estimated cost incurred during this event was $15,400.00
On August 27, 2021, FEMA requested support for Hurricane Ida in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. There were two (2) NVTF-1 members for IST Support and forty-four (44) NVTF-1 members for a Type 3 deployment. The estimated cost incurred during this event was $1,054,000.00
This grant award will provide funding to cover the costs associated with these deployments. Estimates are based on previous deployments.
