BACKGROUND:

Clark County Department of Family Services (DFS) is requesting $50,000.00 from The Administrative Office of the Courts - Court Improvement Project to assist with expediting achieving permanency through adoption for children in Clark County foster care.

Due to Covid-19 restrictions, DFS has experienced a backlog in being able to process adoptions for children.  Funding received will allow DFS to contract with an outside consultant to assist in processing adoptions affected by Covid-19 restrictions which suspended the ability to take relinquishments from parents, delayed hearings, and created a backlog in documentation requirements.  The much-needed assistance will provide additional support to overcome the current backlog and help many children achieve permanency through adoption.

Staff requests the Board ratify the submission of the attached grant request and accept funds awarded.
