In December 2020, the Department of Family Services (DFS) received notification of funding availability from the State of Nevada Department of Health and Human Services - Division of Welfare (State).  However, award of funds is contingent upon submittal of allowable expenses as negotiated between DFS and State.

If approved, receipt of funding will allow DFS to provide emergency assistance to needy families so that children may be cared for in their own homes or in the homes of relatives/fictive kin.  Under this funding period, DFS will hire ten (10) grant funded part-time positions: two (2) Customer Service Assistants, two (2) Management                       Assistants, and six (6) Facilitation/Mediation Specialists position to facilitate/conduct parent education classes; contract with community providers who are able to provide behavioral modification services; and contract with local provider to provide In Home Kinship Navigation and Licensing services to assist youth in achieving permanency in the home of relatives/fictive kin.

Staff requests that the Board ratify the submission of Scope of Work and Budget Narrative submitted to the State on July 1, 2021 and accept any funds awarded.
