BACKGROUND:

On July 22, 2021, the US Economic Development Administration (EDA) announced the availability of $3 billion in American Rescue Funds for communities across the nation to build back better.  The funds are allocated across 6 programs, one being the Build Back Better Regional Challenge which offers up to $100 million to communities for accelerating the economic recovery from the pandemic with transformational endeavors.

LVGEA, as the designated regional economic development authority, established a focused approach and application process that allowed a variety of regional organizations to submit projects for consideration to be included in the final grant application.  After a review of submitted proposals, a group of community stakeholders identified a slate of transformational projects that they believed worked well together and could move the needle in establishing Southern Nevada as a place for advanced manufacturing.

Clark County submitted two projects to LVGEA for consideration: Southland Business and Industrial Park along with the newly conceptualized Sloan Industrial and Manufacturing Park.  The Sloan Industrial and Manufacturing Park was selected for inclusion in the final EDA Build Back Better Regional Challenge grant application.
