BACKGROUND:
Clark County Commission Districts are required to be redrawn on a decennial basis in conjunction with the US Census. The last redrawing of the commission district boundaries occurred in 2011, based on the 2010 decennial census. As a of result of the 2020 census process, the Clark County Commission Districts are again required to be revised.
Attached are proposed redistricting options for the Board to consider. Each redistricting alternative consists of two map exhibits, including Exhibit 1 that depicts urban areas, and Exhibit 2 that depicts the outlying areas. The Board must choose only one of the alternatives to approve as the new County Commission boundaries.
This ordinance is scheduled for introduction at the Board's October 19, 2021, meeting. Staff recommends the public hearing be scheduled for Tuesday, November 2, 2021, at 10:00 a.m.
