BACKGROUND:
The Consolidated Appropriations Act of 2021 ("CAA") established an Emergency Rental Assistance Program to provide assistance to state, local and tribal governments to cover expenditures incurred due to the public health emergency caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.
Clark County has an existing Emergency Rental Assistance Program that was created to distribute funds received
under the Coronavirus Aid Relief and Economic Security Act to provide emergency rental assistance to individuals impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic.
The County is expanding its existing Program to provide emergency rental and utility assistance under the CAA.
The State and the cities have determined that to achieve administrative efficiency and to provide the best services to the residents of Clark County, they will sub-grant to the County a portion of their funds received under the CAA for emergency rental assistance.
The following sub-award agreements were entered with the following jurisdictions with the award amount:
1. State of Nevada: $93,800,000
2. City of Las Vegas: $19,406,330.44
3. City of Henderson: $9,584,866.70
4. City of North Las Vegas: $7,240,000
Acceptance of this funding will allow the County to provide emergency rental and utility assistance to eligible households under the CAA.
Staff recommends that the Board ratify the acceptance of the sub-award agreements.
