BACKGROUND: 

Clark County's redevelopment agency was established in December 2002 and the associated redevelopment plan was approved in December 2003.  Clark County's redevelopment agency suspended functions in May 2009 pursuant to NRS 279.436.

During the 2021 Nevada Legislature, an amendment was made to NRS 279.439 that provided Clark County the same ability as certain cities to extend the statutorily designated termination of its redevelopment plan from 30 years to 45 years.  

On June 1, 2021, the Clark County Board of Commissioners passed a resolution, under the provisions of NRS 279.436 declaring that there was a need for the redevelopment agency to function.

This ordinance seeks to modify the termination date for Clark County's redevelopment plan from December 2033 to December 2048.

This ordinance is scheduled for introduction at the BCC's December 7, 2021, meeting.  Staff recommends the public hearing be scheduled for Tuesday, December 21, 2021, at 10:00 a.m.
