BACKGROUND:

The Clark County Department of Family Services has received funding from the State of Nevada Division of Child and Family Service to continuously fund the Child Welfare Integration process and functions in Southern Nevada.

Approval of this item will provide for the coordination, enhanced and improved services in the areas of licensing family foster homes, independent living foster homes or group foster homes; provide background checks and fingerprinting for prospective foster care agencies/homes; and ensure training of employees who have direct contact with children  in care.

The award process for this grant differs from the normal grant application process as funding is made available to the State and passed through to DFS without application submission or competitive process.  The State has made the grant award contingent upon the submission of a signed Notice of Subaward (NOSA).

Staff requests the Board ratify and accept the submittal of the NOSA the accept any funds awarded.
