BACKGROUND:

The term of the funding appropriation, if awarded, will be from July 1, 2022 through June 30, 2023. The Supreme Court of Nevada, Administrative Office of the Courts is seeking applications on the fiscal year 2023 fee-based funding appropriation for a new program or enhancing an existing Specialty Court program. Specialty Courts are judicial problem-solving programs designed to address the root causes that contribute to criminal activity. This program furthers the Department's mission by providing resources to all Nevada courts.

Currently, the Las Vegas Justice Court Drug Court program accepts referrals from Las Vegas, North Las Vegas and Henderson Justice Courts and through the District Attorney's case negotiation process. During the 12-month appropriation period, Drug Court is seeking to enhance their program to provide inpatient substance abuse treatment, sober living, counseling and other wrap-around services for approximately 100 participants. Attached hereto is the application for state assistance.
