BACKGROUND:

The term of the funding appropriation, if awarded, will be from July 1, 2022 through June 30, 2023. The Supreme Court of Nevada, Administrative Office of the Courts is seeking applications on the fiscal year 2023 fee-based appropriation for a new program or enhancing an existing Specialty Court program. Specialty Courts are judicial problem-solving programs designed to address the root causes that contribute to criminal activity. This program furthers the Department's mission by providing resources to all Nevada courts.

If funding is appropriated, the Las Vegas Justice Court DUI Treatment Court program 5B will fund counseling and residential substance abuse treatment for approximately 40 participants with limited financial resources. One of the major barriers to impaired drivers participating in the DUI Treatment Court program is cost. Fee Based funding will make it possible to enroll more participants, thereby increasing public safety by reducing the number of impaired drivers on Clark County roads. Attached hereto is the application for state assistance.
