BACKGROUND:

The Eighth Judicial District Court (EJDC) has been awarded grant funding as a sub-recipient from the Nevada Supreme Court's allocation of Coronavirus Relief Funds (CRF). The Nevada Supreme Court has awarded $508,567.79 in funds to the EJDC for the following EJDC projects related to the COVID-19 pandemic: (1) the purchase and maintenance of (12) Synexis Sentry Dry Hydrogen Peroxide Units that are utilized to mitigate airborne and surface transmissions of COVID-19 in areas where jurors are present ($63,084.00); (2) the conversion of archived records on microfilm into digital format to reduce the need for members of the public to enter the courthouse to fulfill records requests and allow for increased remote work for staff who fulfill records requests ($399,970.00); (3) the purchase of professional services, hardware, and software that enabled the EJDC to provide live streaming access to the public from the court's re-configured COVID-19 courtrooms ($19,030.79); and (4) eviction guide and file forms and technology ($26,483.00).
