BACKGROUND:

The county code establishing the merit personnel system, Chapter 2.40, was last updated in 2002.  Nevada Revised Statute 245.213 requires the Board of County Commissioners to establish a merit personnel system for all employees of the county except those exempted under the provisions of NRS 245.213.  The proposed update will codify the merit personnel system in county ordinance and eliminate the current merit personnel system policies and procedures.  The proposed ordinance also authorizes the county manager to establish other policies and procedures under the authority of the Board and by other applicable state and federal laws.

Staff recommends that a public hearing be scheduled for December 21, 2021, at 10:00 a.m.
