BACKGROUND:

The Federal Emergency Management Agency was accepting applications for the FY2021 Assistance to Firefighters Grant Program.

The Clark County Fire Department (CCFD) would like to take this opportunity to request funding to implement the Blue Card Certification Program for the department.  The department's project objectives for this grant are to improve the overall effectiveness and safety of firefighters and civilians through improved emergency scene command and control.  If successful in receiving this grant, the CCFD plans to have all 282 fire officers through the completed program and Blue Card certified within one year.

Due to the short timeframe between the grant announcement and submission deadline, the AFG grant application was submitted to FEMA on December 16, 2021, prior to Board approval.

Staff recommends that the Board ratify the submission of the attached grant application.
