Monetary donations for the benefit of the CASA Program.

BACKGROUND:

The CASA program has been offered gifts or donations from individuals and groups. The Nevada Revised Statute authorizes the Board to receive donations and because small donations are time consuming and costly to present to the Board, it is recommended that the CASA program be authorized to accept individual donations in an amount not to exceed $2,500 in personal property and $5,000 in monetary donations.

The Eighth Judicial District Court will submit a quarterly report to the Board of County Commissioners listing the donations received and their value as estimated by the donor.  Individual donations valued at more than $2,500 in personal property or $5,000 in cash will be presented to the Board of County Commissioners for acceptance at a regularly-scheduled meeting.

This resolution is similar to the previously approved Eighth Judicial District Court Specialty Courts donation accounts which where similar to the one authorized for the Clark County fire department that has been reviewed by the District Atmore's office.

The CASA program recruits, screens, trains and supports CASA volunteers.  Donations made to this account will support the budget necessary to administer to the program including, but not limited to CASA volunteers marketing, recruitment, and retention and recognition efforts.
