BACKGROUND:

At the February 15, 2022, Clark County Board of County Commissioner's meeting, a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) was approved that allowed the Eighth Judicial District Court (EJDC) to operate as an independent agency separate from Clark County.  The MOU outlined the responsibilities of certain governmental services provided by Clark County and the EJDC wherein the EJDC and Clark County memorialized an agreement between the two entities relative to general services, facilities, budget process, personnel administration, finance, and related issues.

At the April 5, 2022, Clark County Board of County Commissioner's meeting, a new fund entitled the Eighth Judicial District Court Fund (2760) was created so that the EJDC may separately administer and account for its general fund revenues and expenditures that are associated with its operations.  This fund is scheduled to become effective July 1, 2022.

A separate fund to account solely for the EJDC's general fund operating grant revenues and grant expenditures is needed to allow for comprehensive transparent financial reporting.

This fund will become effective July 1, 2022.
