BACKGROUND:

At the October 5, 2021, Board of County Commissioners' it was mentioned that an ordinance would be developed for the licensing of peer-to-peer car sharing programs as provided for in the Nevada State Assembly Bill 389 (2021 Legislative Session). The proposed ordinance would require licensure of the peer-to-peer car sharing platforms, and shared vehicle owners that operate as a corporation, limited partnership or limited-liability company and pay business license fees.

The proposed ordinance was introduced at the Board of County Commissioners'; meeting on April 19, 2022, and a public hearing was set for May 3, 2022, at 10:00 a.m.  At the May 3, 2022, Board of County Commissioners' meeting, the item was held to the May 17, 2022, Board meeting.  Staff recommends approval of the ordinance to amend Title 6 of the County Code by adding a new Chapter 6.105.
