BACKGROUND:

Since 2001, the Board of County Commissioners and the local governing bodies of several local public agencies approved interlocal agreements to coordinate Geographic Information Services (GIS) activities/resources and to share related data.  This has enabled the local public agencies to work more effectively, reducing duplication of tasks and resources.

These GIS interlocal activities, resources and data sharing is central to the success of GIS in Southern Nevada.  The effective distribution of fundamental data from the Southern Nevada GIS Central Repository, share the costs of acquiring LiDAR data.
