BACKGROUND:

The attached budget will provide for two Hearing Masters, one Legal Secretary, three F/T Bailiffs, one Legal Office Services Supervisor, one Legal Office Specialist, seven Legal Office Assistants, six Courtroom Clerks, two P/T Bailiffs and two Legal Clerical Assistants for fiscal year 2023. These positions include 4.5 staff positions previously funded by the Pilot Program. Nevada Revised Statutes (NRS) and Title IV, Part D, Sections 451 and 454 of the Social Security Act require the Welfare Division, in coordination with the District Court of the State of Nevada, to aggressively enforce child support obligations owed by absent parents to their children.

This budget will enable the County to be reimbursed for all the appropriate staff dedicated to child support enforcement (IV-D) tasks. Routine supplies and capital expenditures will be reimbursed at the maximum allowable through federal funds passed through the Welfare Division. Federal financial participation is supplemented by County funding.
