BACKGROUND:

The claim is a result of a motor vehicle accident on or around August 25, 2020, whereby a Clark County driver rear-ended the Claimant's vehicle.  The Claimant's vehicle sustained $2,507.38 in total property damage. Claimant Rosalyn Parker alleged $79,644.22 and Claimant Michael Parker alleged $22,596.00 in total medical treatment.

Through negotiations with legal counsel for the claimant, Claimant Rosalyn Parker has agreed to accept $125,000.00 in settlement of her claims to avoid any further costs and legal expenses of possible litigation in this case. Similarly, Claimant Michael Parker has agreed to accept $40,000 in settlement of his claims to avoid any further costs and the potential of litigation. If these settlements are approved, the County would also avoid costs and expenses of any future litigation. For Claimant Rosalyn Parker, $25,000 of the total settlement would come from Clark County's deductible with the remaining $100,000 coming from the liability pool. For Claimant Michael Parker, $25,000 of the total settlement amount would come from Clark County's deductible with the remaining $15,000 being covered by the liability pool.

The proposed settlement has been reviewed and approved by the Civil Division of the District Attorney’s Office and the Clark County Liability Pool Committee members.
