BACKGROUND:

On January 18, 2005, NV Energy was awarded an Electrical System Franchise Agreement that was set to expire on January 18, 2020. The current Agreement has been extended until July 18, 2022. NV Energy has requested a one-time, five-year extension pursuant to Section 5.01.070 of the County Code. This Extension and Amendment would revise the expiration date to July 18, 2027. It would also require NV Energy to seek regulatory approval to charge its customers, including distribution-only customers, the applicable fees pursuant to Section 6.13.040 of the Code on all charges related to the sale, provision and/or delivery of electrical energy including, but not limited to, distribution charges, transmission charges and exit fees, and remit the fees to the County.

Staff recommends approval of this Extension and Amendment of the Electrical System Franchise Agreement.
