BACKGROUND:

On May 5, 2020, the Board of County Commissioners approved an allocation of ESG funds in the amount of $75,000 to HELP of Southern Nevada, a Nevada non-profit organization, to support the emergency shelter services for youth at the Shannon West Homeless Youth Center.

SAFE House, another Nevada non-profit organization, was awarded $67,250 to provide emergency shelter services for homeless individuals.  SAFE House advised Clark County staff of the inability to expend the remaining $18,087.45 of their award.  According to guidelines from the United States Department of Housing and Urban Development and under the direction of the Clark County Community Advisory Committee, HELP of Southern Nevada was contacted an agreed to accept the additional $18,087.45 award to further support their emergency shelter services for homeless youth.

The Board of County Commissioners has the final authority over the allocation of these funds, subject to the County meeting federal requirements.  This agenda item allows the County Manager or her designee to approve and sign necessary resolutions for the ESG program.

The District Attorney's Office has reviewed and approved this item as to form.
