BACKGROUND:

The State and Federal government imposes a wide spectrum of responsibilities on local government, agencies, and hospitals to deal with potential hazards in their communities.  In order to address these issues, the State Emergency Response Commission has delegated supplemental funds from FY23 to assist in community preparedness.

Pursuant to NRS 277.180 and 277.45, staff is presenting the board with an interlocal agreement with Mesquite Fire and Rescue in order to govern the distribution of funds from the United We Stand Grant to pay for atmospheric monitors and calibration equipment.

Grant funding must be encumbered within the grant performance period of July 1, 2022 to June 30, 2023. Mesquite Fire and Rescue will be responsible for encumbering and expending grant funds on a reimbursement basis from the Clark County Office of Emergency Management.

Staff recommends approval of the interlocal agreement between Clark County and Mesquite Fire and Rescue.
