BACKGROUND:

The State and Federal government imposes a wide spectrum of responsibilities on local government, agencies, and hospitals to deal with potential hazards in their communities.  In order to address these issues, the State Emergency Response Commission has delegated supplement funds from the FY23 to assist in community preparedness.

Pursuant to NRS 277.180 and 277.45, staff is presenting the board with an interlocal agreement with the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department in order to govern the distribution of funds from the SERC OPTE Grant to pay for CBRN Gas Mask Canisters for the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department.

Grant funding must be encumbered within the grant performance period of July 1, 2022 to June 30, 2023.  The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department will be responsible for encumbering and expending grant funds on a reimbursement basis from Clark County Office of Emergency Management.

Staff recommends the approval of the interlocal agreement between Clark County and the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department.
