BACKGROUND:
To provide a comprehensive review of Outside Agency Grant (OAG) requests Community Resources Management initiates a grant application and internal review process each year. This year nonprofit agencies and local governments within the County completed an application for funding detailing information related to proposed projects, budgets, and information concerning their nonprofit status and agency management. Department heads representing critical County services reviewed all applications. Each reviewer recommended projects that would most closely support their department's needs, in which the final list of recommended projects was previously approved by the Board during the 7/19/2022 BCC, agenda item #83 for a total of $1.5 million.
Thereafter, one of the grantees, HELP of Southern Nevada, returned the full award of $77,000 for The Harbor program. The Department head has recommended the reallocation of the $77,000 to another grantee, Boys Town Nevada, Inc. for its Family Support Services program, which encompasses similar services for The Harbor. This will increase the award amount for Boys Town Nevada, Inc. as they were originally approved for an award of $210,000 during the 7/19/2022 BCC.
Following the adoption of this change in allocation, County staff will then prepare the required grant resolution agreements per Nevada Revised Statutes 244.1505. These grant resolutions will then be sent to the County Manager or her designee for approval in advance of the implementation of the approved projects.
Approval of these grants will provide matching County monies to provide supplemental services to clients of our County departments, as well as assist with the operation of social, recreational, educational, and cultural programs benefiting seniors, youth, veterans, the low income, as well as our rural and urban residents.
