BACKGROUND:

Under Assembly Bill 84 in the 80th Session of the Nevada Legislature in 2019, authorization was provided for the issuance of $217,500,000 in general obligation bonds to protect, preserve and obtain the benefits of the property and natural and cultural resources of the State of Nevada.  From that authorization, $10,000,000 in bond proceeds were allocated to Clark County to disburse to a non-profit organization to plan, design, construct, or develop the Las Vegas Valley Rim Trail.  The County is identified as a conduit for money earmarked for a not-for-profit organization who will work with the appropriate jurisdiction on the Las Vegas Valley Rim Trail.

The Funding Agreement authorizes funds be made available to the County to act as a conduit to a not-for-profit organization from proceeds of bond sales for approved projects related to the Las Vegas Valley Rim Trail approved by the State.

The first bond sale was completed in December 2021, and $1,000,000 is now available to the County for disbursement for the Las Vegas Valley Rim Trail.

Additional bond sales with funds earmarked for Las Vegas Valley Rim Trail may occur in 2023-2025 or later biennium budget cycles.
