BACKGROUND:

On September 29, 2022, Clark County Social Service (CCSS) received Notice of Subaward (NOSA) from the State of Nevada Department of Health and Human Services, Division of Child and Family Services (DCFS) for the Chafee Education and Training Vouchers Program (ETV).

The ETV program provides monetary assistance to eligible youth who are enrolled in an accredited postsecondary institution of higher education.  Youth who are in or age out of foster care or who have been adopted after turning age 16 can receive up to $5,000 annually to help them begin, continue, or complete their educational goals.  With this funding and assistance former foster youth are able to overcome and eliminate financial hurdles and build a strong foundation for long-term personal and financial stability and support.

CCSS has been awarded $316,737.00 for twelve (12) months of services with a project term of October 1, 2022 through September 30, 2023 through a renewal option from the grant application submitted July 2021 to Nevada Department of Health and Human Services, Division of Child and Family Services.  ETV program requires a twenty-five percent (25%) cash match in the amount of $79,184.00.  Cash match funds have been budgeted. These funds will be used to support one (1) Part Time Hourly Family Services Specialist to administer the program and ensure all requirements are met.
