BACKGROUND:

The purpose of the amendment is to better regulate the sale of dogs, cats, rabbits, and potbellied pigs and to reduce the market for animals bred by “puppy mills”, as well as, to help relieve overcrowding in animal shelters. This ordinance will amend Title 10 of the Clark County Code as it pertains to prohibiting the sale of dogs, cats, rabbits, or potbellied pigs by retailers.

On October 18, 2022, the Board considered and approved the Business Impact Statement in accordance with NRS 237.090.

The amended ordinance was introduced at the October 18, 2022, Board of County Commissioners meeting, and a public hearing was set for November 1, 2022, at 10:00 a.m.
