BACKGROUND:

According to Department of Juvenile Justice Services (DJJS) Fiscal Directive F002, the Board of County Commissioners has authorized the Director of DJJS to accept and use donations that do not exceed $2,500.  Donations exceeding that threshold, must be presented to Board for acceptance.

On December 5, 2022, Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield provided DJJS with correspondence that identified The Harbor Juvenile Assessment Centers to be in alignment with Anthem's health plan and state priorities. As a result, Anthem's leadership team wishes to provide community reinvestment funding in the amount of $20,000 to DJJS for supportive services related to behavioral health and social determinants of health. Pursuant to NRS 244.270, the Board may accept donations for the use and benefit of the County. Accepting this monetary donation will provide continued support to The Harbor Juvenile Assessment Centers and the youth and families served by the program.
