BACKGROUND:
This Competitive Bidding Exception is for the refurbishment and remount of fire apparatus and fire ambulance with Firetrucks Unlimited (NBE).
A Fiscal Directive No. 6, Competitive Bidding Exception, was approved because a local vendor is necessary to efficiently resolve issues with truck configurations and inspections. Firetrucks Unlimited LLC is the only local vendor that can provide these specific services.
The following are the pertinent provisions of this approval:
• The term of the approval is from date of award through June 30, 2023 and includes the option to renew for 4, one-year periods.
• Hourly rate for labor and fixed percentage mark up for parts with an automatic 3% increase on labor rate each year beginning July 1, 2023.
• Clark County is not under exclusive contract with Firetrucks Unlimited LLC and therefore, can cease purchasing product / services at any time.
The recommendation of award is in accordance with NRS 332.115.1(a), the competitive bidding process is not required as the item to be purchased is contracted from a sole source; (c), the competitive bidding process is not required as the additions to and repairs and maintenance of equipment may be more efficiently added to, repaired or maintained by a certain person; (d), the competitive bidding process is not required as the equipment which, by reason of the training of the personnel or of an inventory of replacement parts maintained by the local government is compatible with existing equipment.
Firetrucks Unlimited LLC currently holds a Clark County Business License.
