BACKGROUND:

On October 19, 2021, the Board of County Commissioners approved a franchise agreement with The Boring Company to construct multiple tunnels as part of its underground transportation system, which is the Vegas Loop.  Pursuant to Section 9.1 of the franchise agreement, the Boring Company has agreed to provide Clark County Fire Department with the following:

Cost for a temporary employee for up to the first eighteen (18) months; then,
Annual salary and benefit costs for a full-time permanent employee until the completion of the project.
One-time payment of $340,580.95 to cover the cost of equipment; and
Annual payment of $44,600 to cover the cost of recurring equipment.

Personnel and equipment purchased will be used primarily for the protection of public safety in connection with the Vegas Loop Project.

The District Attorney’s Office has reviewed and approved the agreement as to form.
