BACKGROUND:

The Regional Transportation Commission of Southern Nevada (RTC) has approved and budgeted funding for the Tropicana Avenue, Union Pacific Railroad (UPRR) Crash Beam from Wynn Road to Valley View Boulevard project in the Highway Improvement Acquisition Fund - Fuel Revenue Indexing for Fiscal Year 2023. The design is 90 percent complete and all necessary rights-of-way have been obtained for this project.

The attached Interlocal Contract No. 3099 allocates funds for construction of the Tropicana Avenue, UPRR Crash Beam between Wynn Road and Valley View Boulevard project. The existing crash beam that protects the UPRR structure on Tropicana Avenue, east of Wynn Road was damaged. As a result, a new crash beam will be constructed west of the existing one outside of the UPRR right-of-way. The time of performance is effective to June 30, 2028, unless time extensions are granted.

RTC approved the interlocal contract at its meeting on April 13, 2023.

The District Attorney's Office has reviewed and approved the interlocal contract as to form.
