BACKGROUND:

Currently, a business that desires to provide broadband facilities and/or broadband services to the public must either be a telecommunication service provider and be regulated by the Public Utilities Commission of Nevada or be a video service provider subject to the provisions of NRS Chapter 711.  Companies that desire only to provide broadband facilities and/or broadband services do not fit into either of these categories.

This agenda item is to discuss the development of a business license category and any agreements and/or amendments to the County Code that may be necessary to allow a business to provide broadband facilities and/or broadband services and direct staff accordingly.
