This interlocal amendment is anticipated to generate $280,000 revenue per year from local government agencies to offset GIS costs. |
BACKGROUND:
Since 2001, the Board of County Commissioners and the local governing bodies of several local public agencies approved interlocal agreements to coordinate Geographic Information Services (GIS) activities/resources and to share related data. This has enabled the local public agencies to work more effectively, reducing duplication of tasks and resources.
These GIS interlocal activities, resources and data sharing are central to the success of GIS in Southern Nevada. The effective distribution of fundamental data from the Southern Nevada GIS Central Repository, the success of the Aerial Photography Program, and the continued staff coordination among all the GIS Interlocal Contract participants, are the keys to our collective ability to deliver timely and efficient services to the public.
