BACKGROUND:

In the Consolidated Appropriations Act, 2023, Congress made funding available for grants under the Economic Development Initiative (EDI) for the purposes, and in amounts, specified in Community Project Funding/ Congressionally Directed Spending; to be administered by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD).

Clark County was notified by HUD that the community development project of tenant improvements on a building for Jewish Family Services (JFSA), that was purchased using CDBG funding, would be supported with EDI funds. This funding would complete the rehabilitation of the building; providing food, senior services, rapid rehousing/basic needs in the community. The project would complete the required rehabilitation that is needed for JFSA to completely move in. JFSA provides services to over 25,000 individuals annually. The majority of their services are provided to those who cannot afford to pay for help and are at, or below, the poverty line.

The initial grant period runs from 3/2/2023 though 8/31/2031.
