Additional Comments:

An award from Section 103 IRA Monitoring will be used to upgrade up to four (4) existing monitoring stations and meteorological towers. This additional award does not require a local match and is a one-time award.

BACKGROUND:

The department has received notice from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency inviting the Department of Environment and Sustainability (DES) to apply for an additional Clean Air Act funding for Clark County’s PM2.5 Air Monitoring and Air Pollution Control programs. DES receives these reimbursement grant funds to help defray costs directly associated with PM2.5 research and development, as well as with the administration of projects and programs designed to prevent and control air pollution and maintain National Ambient Air Quality Standards. This one-time funding is consistent with the County’s strategic priority to implement measures to control sources of air pollution and meet national health standards.
