BACKGROUND:

On June 2, 2020, the Hospital Board of Trustees ratified a resolution pursuant to NRS 286.523 to employ retired public employees to fill positions for which there was a critical labor shortage.  The critical labor shortage was not expected to last more than two (2) years, but on May 17, 2022, the Hospital Board of Trustees ratified a second resolution.  Due to the continuing critical labor shortage that University Medical Center of Southern Nevada is still experiencing, this new resolution will extend the critical needs designation for certain healthcare positions by an additional two (2) years.
