BACKGROUND:

Rio Virgin Telephone Company d/b/a Reliance Connects was granted a ten-year telecommunications franchise by the Board on June 2, 2009, that was extended by the Board for an additional five years, until June 2, 2024, pursuant to Section 5.01.070 of the County Code.

Franchisee has applied for a new Telecommunications Franchise to allow the Franchisee to continue to install, operate and maintain underground facilities within the rights-of-ways in the unincorporated areas of Clark County within its service area in and around Bunkerville and Riverside for the purpose of providing subscription telecommunication services. NRS Section 709.070 stipulates that upon receipt of a complete application the Board shall, at its next regular meeting, cause notice of the application to be given.

In accordance with NRS 709.070, public notice shall be published in a local newspaper for four consecutive weeks and posted in each of the unincorporated towns affected at least ten days before the public hearing. The Board is requested to accept the application, direct staff to cause public notice as required and set a public hearing for May 21, 2024, at 10 a.m. to consider awarding a franchise.
