BACKGROUND:

MCImetro Access Transmission Services LLC was granted a ten-year telecommunications franchise by the Board on March 3, 2009, that was extended by the Board for an additional five years, until March 9, 2024, pursuant to Section 5.01.070 of the County Code.

Franchisee has applied for a new Telecommunications Franchise to allow the Franchisee to continue to install, operate and maintain underground facilities within the rights-of-ways in unincorporated Clark County for the purpose of providing subscription telecommunication services.

In order to provide adequate time for final discussions, staff is recommending that the current agreement be extended for an additional six months or until a new rights-of-way license agreement is approved by the Board, whichever is sooner.
