BACKGROUND:

The State of Nevada, Department of Business and Industry, Nevada Housing Division (NBD) is the administering agency for the Low-Income Housing Trust Fund (Trust Fund) established in 1989 to fund low-income housing activities. Clark County Social Service (CCSS) has received funding for the Welfare Set-Aside Program (WSAP) since 1994. One of the Trust Fund's major project areas is for welfare activities. WSAP provides housing related assistance to eligible individuals whose income is at or below the federally designated poverty level.

On March 11, 2024, CCSS received notification of the 2024 WSAP allocation of $682,169.45 for fiscal year 2024/2025 to be split between the NV awarded jurisdictions. The final amount of this allocation is unknown at the time of this submission.

This agenda item requests permission to submit the application for the WSAP allocation. WSAP funding will allow CCSS to disperse funds to eligible households under the WSAP criteria.

This item has been approved as to form by the District Attorney's office.
