BACKGROUND:

Under County Code 8.20.450 Location Restrictions, liquor stores are not allowed to be within 1,500 feet of a school or church, except that the Board has discretion to waive this requirement at a public hearing if the two uses are not less than five hundred feet apart.

Royal Liquor, located at 5920 W Flamingo Rd Ste Suite 7 & 8, submitted an application for a package liquor store license. The business is located within 1,500 feet of two churches: (1) St. Serbian Orthodox Church at 3950 S. Jones Blvd., and (2) Nevada Buddhist Association at 4189 S. Jones Blvd.

On August 6, 2024, Royal Liquor submitted a request to waive the 1500-foot restriction to churches and schools. The request includes letters of no concern from each of the two churches that are within the 1500-foot distance restriction
