BACKGROUND:

Clark County, on behalf of the Department of Social Services (CCSS), requests that the Board of County Commissioners ratify the amendment of 2021 Agreement to use American Rescue Plan Act Funds from the State of Nevada, Department of Business and Industry, Nevada Housing Division, to include the provision of fixed income rental assistance, eviction prevention, and administrative costs.

This item was previously approved on October 19, 2021, to provide assistance to eligible landlords on behalf of tenants who had defaulted in their payments of rent in Clark County. On August 29, 2024, Clark County was notified by Nevada Housing Division that the award would be increased from $4 million to $5 million, allowing the use of up to 10% of funds for administrative costs. On October 4, 2024, the Nevada Housing Division expanded the use of these funds to include support on behalf of tenants for fixed income rental assistance and eviction prevention for tenants.

The amendment was reviewed and signed on December 30, 2024.

The project period is July 1, 2021 through September 30, 2025.

This item has been approved as to form by the District Attorney's office.
