BACKGROUND:

On August 2, 2024 the SNCAC submitted an application to the NCA for the Domestic Trafficking Victims (DTF) grant.

On December 23, 2024 Clark County Family Services (CCFS) received notice from the NCA, through collaboration with the Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention (OJJDP) that the SNCAC was awarded the DTF grant in the amount of $24,032.

CCFS proposes that this funding will assist with training staff who are working with commercially sexually exploited children (CSEC) in Clark County, NV.

Additionally, The At-Risk Youth Support Team (ARYS) plays a crucial role in safeguarding the CSEC population through vital casework and intervention. To enhance the effectiveness of the support services, specialized training for our caseworkers is necessary. This grant will enable our team members to attend nationally recognized, evidence-based trainings focused on best practices for identifying, assessing, and engaging with CSEC.

The goal is for each caseworker to complete advanced training programs, thereby improving their skills in detecting trafficking indicators and applying effective intervention strategies. This investment in professional development will significantly boost our team’s capacity to address and support the needs of at-risk youth, ultimately leading to better outcomes for the children we serve.

Staff requests that the Board ratify and approve the grant application and acceptance of any funds awarded.
