Conduct a public hearing to receive objections from the public concerning the granting of a telecommunications franchise to Metro Fibernet, LLC d/b/a Metronet to provide telecommunication services in certain unincorporated areas of Clark County; and to approve and authorize the Chair to sign a Telecommunications Franchise Agreement between Clark County and Metro Fibernet, LLC to construct, operate and maintain a telecommunications utility system to provide subscription service in certain unincorporated areas of Clark County, Nevada for a term of five years, with two five-year renewal options; and providing for other matters properly related thereto. Metro Fibernet, LLC would be responsible for remitting to the County fees collected from its retail customers based on 5% of intrastate revenue pursuant to Chapter 6.13 of the Clark County Code. |
BACKGROUND:
Metro Fibernet, LLC submitted an application for a telecommunication franchise agreement with the County to be able to construct, operate and maintain a telecommunication system within certain unincorporated areas of Clark County. Pursuant to NRS 709.070, this application was accepted by the Board on March 18, 2025.
In accordance with NRS 709.070, public notice has been published in a local newspaper for four consecutive weeks and posted in three public locations in the unincorporated towns affected at least ten days before the public hearing. The Board is requested to hold a public hearing on April 15, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. to receive comments or objections to consider awarding a telecommunications franchise to provide telecommunication services in certain unincorporated areas of Clark County.
Following the public hearing, the Board is requested to approve the attached Telecommunications System Franchise Agreement with Metro Fibernet, LLC.
