BACKGROUND:

In 1977, summary judgment was obtained regarding Assessor's Parcel Number 202-25-301-007 now known as the Goodsprings Cemetery (Property) that directed for the ownership of the Property to initially go to Clark County (County), and the County would designate a non-profit formed for the purpose of maintaining a cemetery to receive the Property.  The heirs of the then Property owner did not comply with the court order and sold the property. In 1990 the County sought to complete a quiet title action to regain ownership of the Property. In 1991, the County submitted a board action to convey the property to the Goodsprings Cemetery Association once the quiet title was completed but the action was not completed. The County ultimately acquired the Property by tax deed in 2001. The Goodsprings Cemetery Association still desires to acquire the Property to continue maintaining, servicing, and operating the cemetery.

Pursuant to the 1977 summary judgment and Nevada Revised Statute (NRS) 244.292, the County may surplus the Property to a non-profit without consideration for cemetery purposes after a public hearing.

The following stipulations shall govern this conveyance:

- The Property shall be used for cemetery purposes as governed in NRS Chapter 452
- The Property shall not be leased or conveyed to an entity other than a corporation for public benefit as defined in   NRS 82.021;

This item was presented to the County Long Range Planning Committee on November 13, 2024 and March 12, 2025.
