BACKGROUND:

On November 5, 2013, the Clark County Board of County Commissioners, acting in its capacity as the University Medical Center of Southern Nevada Board of Hospital Trustees (Board) adopted an ordinance establishing the University Medical Center of Southern Nevada (UMC) Governing Board under Clark County Code Chapter 3.74.

On April 1, 2025, the Board directed staff to amend Chapter 3.74.020, subsection 8 to clarify that members serve at the pleasure of the Board and remove malfeasance or misfeasance from the Code to align with other appointments in Clark County Code.  The Board also directed staff to amend Chapter 3.74.030, subsection 6 to require that the appointment, review or discharge of the Hospital's Chief Executive Order be ratified by the Board. Staff recommends a public hearing be set for May 6, 2025, at 10:00 a.m.
