BACKGROUND:

On July 17, 2012 the Board of County Commissioners approved an amendment to Title 2 of the Clark County Code to establish a percent for the Arts Program. On December 4, 2012 the Board approved and adopted the County Arts Plan.

Title 2.90.040 requires the Parks and Recreation Department to submit an annual report on the County Arts Plan with recommendations for proposed public art acquisitions or commissions and an update on artistic programs and projects to the Board for consideration.  This 2026 Budget, if approved, will supersede previously approved County Arts Plans.

As directed by the Board, the County Arts Plan includes a portion of funding for the Nevada Museum of Art’s 5-year maintenance of the Seven Magic Mountains Art Installation starting in FY23.

In conjunction with the Arts Plan, the Art Committee has established values for public art that can be used to assess new artwork, thereby better supporting the Arts Plan.
