BACKGROUND: 

The proposed 2023 Electrical Code replaces the current 2017 edition.

The Southern Nevada Amendments to the 2023 National Electrical Code were developed jointly by the Southern Nevada Building Officials and the local construction industry through committee hearings and actions.

Adopting and enforcing the 2023 National Electrical Code with the Southern Nevada amendments will provide for improved and safer electrical installations within newly constructed buildings and remodels in Clark County.

The tentative effective date of the 2023 Electrical Code is January 11, 2026.

Staff recommends scheduling a public hearing for July 15, 2025, at 10:00 a.m.

The District Attorney’s Office has reviewed this agenda item and approved as to form.
