BACKGROUND:

The proposed 2024 Residential Code replaces the current 2018 edition.

The Southern Nevada Amendments to the 2024 International Residential Code were developed jointly by the Southern Nevada Building Officials and the local construction industry through committee hearings and actions.

Adopting and enforcing the International Residential Code with the Southern Nevada amendments will provide for improved construction methods and materials, and assist in construction consistency of newly constructed residential buildings and remodels within Clark County.

The tentative effective date of the Residential Code is January 11, 2026.

Staff recommends scheduling a public hearing for July 15, 2025, at 10 a.m.

The District Attorney’s Office has reviewed this agenda item and approved as to form.
