Description:

9-1-1 Surcharge on Telephone Lines in Clark County

Additional Comments:

Based on the 9-1-1 surcharge fee proposed in the Ordinance the revenue in the first year is estimated to be approximately $35 million.

BACKGROUND:

The proposed ordinance imposes a surcharge on all telephone customers within Clark County and creates a 9-1-1 Emergency Response Advisory Committee to develop, maintain, and annually review the County's Five-Year Master Plan for 9-1-1 services and recommend Surcharge expenditures to the Board.

The proposed ordinance was introduced at the Board of County Commissioners' meeting on January 6, 2026, and a public hearing was set for January 20, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. Staff recommends approval of the ordinance to amend Title 4, Chapter 4.35 of the Clark County Code.
